The Typical Weed Control Schedule for Warm-Season & Cool-Season Grasses
At TurfXpert, we have years of expertise that have taught us the best ways to care for the common types of grasses we have in our area of Georgia. That includes zoysia, Bermuda, and fescue. While fescue is a cool-season grass, it can still flourish here but we are right on the line for being able to have fescue lawns--any farther south, and it would not survive well. We also have warm-season grasses like Bermuda and zoysia. Both types of grasses can be susceptible to weed invasions and we have created a weed control schedule for them:
- Rounds 1 & 2 are scheduled in January-April. They both include a pre-emergent treatment to target broadleaf weeds and a post-emergent treatment.
- Round 3 is applied in April-June. This includes a post-emergent spot treatment if we see any weed growth.
- Round 4, in June-August, is another post-emergent spot treatment.
- Rounds 5 & 6 are applied in August-November and include both a pre- and post-emergent treatment.
- Round 7 is in November-December and is the final post-emergent spot treatment of the year.

Common Weeds in North Georgia
We have several common weeds in north Georgia that will grow in your lawn if you do not have routine treatments to control their presence. When you let weeds grow unchecked, they can end up taking over your lawn and steal precious nutrients and resources from your grass. Some of these weeds include:
