Having a healthy lawn means your property looks better (and may even have a higher value) than if you let it succumb to disease. One common lawn disease we see every year is known as “brown patch” and can get worse if you ignore it.
TurfXpert specializes in residential, commercial, and HOA lawn care and can treat and control brown patch before it takes over your yard. We serve properties in Roswell, Marietta, Woodstock, and nearby cities in North Georgia.
We can’t control the sun and the rain, but there are some preventative practices to reduce the possibility of disease.
Proper fertilization and watering practices can help prevent brown patch. Avoiding excessive fertilizer in the late spring and summer can help, and avoiding watering at night can minimize the humid conditions that the fungus prefers.
The fungus lives in the thatch layer at the base of the grass; aerating once a year can break up this thatch layer and reduce opportunity for fungal growth. Existing brown patch can be treated with fungicide.
You should also make sure you have proper drainage in your lawn, this can help with controling moisture.
